What has been the best way to treat young children that has ADHD?

Pursuing Peace asked:

A mother has been forced to have her 8 year old son tested and has been diagnosed with ADHD. He is now on Adderal. However it is no longer working well with him. I am hoping for some answers from people with experience with this topic. What has been the best decision for you? Is there anything to do when it comes to a more natural approach? Thank you.
