How to Spot Some Adhd Signs - a Guide for Parents

Robert William Locke asked:

Many parents are convinced that ADHD is over-diagnosed and is mistaken for normal rowdy childish behaviour and that the children will grow out of it so ADHD tell tale signs are often ignored. Also many parents just do not want to know and hate the idea that their child is not normal and will be labelled for the rest of their lives. These are very real fears.

ADHD tell tale signs, however, need to be noted andADHD signs, ADHd tell tale signs monitored and a word with teachers is essential in establishing if there may be a problem or not. Of course it is normal for kids to run riot or fool around or just be generally obnoxious. One of the key ADHD signs is when this behaviour is more frequent than not and the behaviour is entirely inappropriate for the situation. Another tell tale sign is when the misbehaviour is beginning to hold back the child’s development and interferes with normal social and school life.

Fidgeting and Teeth Grinding

Hyperactivity in children often manifests itself as non-stop motion and fidgeting. Another sign that the child may be hyperactive is the fact that may grind their teeth while asleep. This is known as bruxism and actually occurs more often in children with ADHD.

Children Running Riot ?

Noisy uncontrolled running riot, increased tics together with outbursts and temper tantrums may be an indication that something is not quite right. If this occurs even after lots of letting off steam in outdoor exercise, then this could be another indicator. We had to walk to school so that was a good way of getting rid of excess energy. How different things are to-day - children are sedated with mind altering drugs (more often the preferred ADHD treatment) and driven to school. Afternoons are spent in the company of TV, videos, PC and mobile phone. Outdoor and indoor childhood games have almost disappeared !

The Homework Battle

The battle over homework may be another ADHD sign and there will be trouble on focusing and finishing tasks. Again the frequency and severity of this symptom will often set alarm bells ringing. It is always better to have the child tested for ADHD so that he or she can be supported and regarded as someone special for their creativity and energy rather than being a ‘problem’.

Other Tell Tale ADHD Signs

The other classic ADHD signs such as inattention and failure to respond when spoken to, problems with peers in the playground, mood swings, forgetfulness and inability to stay on task all complete the picture but it will be up to the doctor/paediatrician/child psychologist to carry out the tests and confirm the diagnosis if ADHD is indeed present.

If you go down the ADHD conventional psychostimulant route, be prepared for the following:

loss of appetite, insomnia, irritability, increased tics, a possibility of heart problems, risk of drug abuse later on, lethargy, stomach pains … need I go on? There is a much safer, less stressful ADHD alternative therapy which is a homeopathic cure for ADHD. Click on the link below and find out more and join thousands of parents who will not be fobbed off with ADHD psychostimulant drugs.
